The program will sign Grant Funding Deeds with eleven recipients of its large grants and seven for medium grants.
More successful project proposals are expected to be announced by June.
To meet SPSN 2012 targets, SPSN is aiming to give 40 large grants valued at K161, 000 – K500, 000 per grant and 50 medium grants (K81, 000 – K160, 000 per grant) and 400 small grants within the ranges of K5, 000 – K80, 000 per grant to meet will be awarded.
The successful organizations were awarded after the completion of the Komiuniti Prosek Plenning (KPP) appraisals process carried out in Sandaun, Milne Bay, Oro, Manus, Eastern Highlands and Simbu provinces.
KKP appraisals are conducted on successful proposals that were endorsed by the Provincial Grants Committee and are later approved by the National Grants Committees.
This process is usually supported by an SPSN staff and Community Development Worker from the province.
To facilitate the KPP process about 70 Community Development Workers and SPSN staff attended a week long workshop in Port Moresby to understand the KPP format in September 2011.
